讲座内容
What Made the 20s Roar: How the Decade Shaped The Great Gatsby.
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby is sometimes called the “great American novel.”  The decade surrounding the novel’s 1925 publication was just as great.  From prohibition to the stock market crash of 1929, 1920s America was filled with the lost generation of soldiers from World War I, flappers dancing the Charleston, bootleggers dealing in illicit alcohol, women who wanted the vote, and anyone who wanted to make a quick fortune in stocks.  The history of the decade makes this “great American novel” even greater.
