Nozomu Ishii received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D degrees from Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, in 1989, 1991, and 1996, respectively. In 1991, he joined the faculty of Engineering at Hokkaido University. Since 1998, he has been with the faculty of Engineering at Niigata University, Japan, where he is currently an Associate Professor of the Smart Information and Communication Systems Program. His current interests are in the area of small antennas and antenna analysis and measurement. He received the Young Engineers Award from the IEICE of Japan in 1995 and the Best Paper Award from the IEICE Communication Society in 2016. He was secretary of Technical Group on Antennas and Propagation of IEICE, 2011-2012. He also served the general chairs of 2017 IEEE CAMA, which was held at Tsukuba, Japan, 2017. He is a senior member of IEICE and a member of the IEEE.

讲座内容

The radio equipment near human body should meet the radio protection guideline. It is necessary to do compatibility examination for the equipment to confirm whether the produced radio wave meets the standard values in the guideline, for example, specific absorption rate for mobile terminals. If the electric field intensity can be given in the tissue equivalent liquid, specific absorption rate can be measured. For this purpose, the output voltage of the electric field sensor with Schottky diodes should be related to known electric field intensity by the field probe. This procedure is called probe calibration. In this presentation, I will explain two methods to determine known values of the field intensity via the near-field gain or transmitting antenna factor of the reference dipole antenna operated in the liquid.
