讲座人介绍

Prof. Zheng Hong Zhu received his B.Sc degree, M.A.Sc degree and Ph.D. Degree in Shanghai JiaoTong University, Shanghai, in 1983, 1986 and 1989, respectively. He then received his M.A.Sc degree in University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, in 1997, and received the Ph.D. degree in University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 2004. From 1993 to 1995, he was a research associate in the University of Toronto. From 1995 to 2006, he was a senior stress/structural engineer in the Curtiss-Wright Indal Technology, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. From 2013, He serves as a full professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering, York University. His current research interests include dynamics and control of tethered spacecraft system, multibody dynamics and control, space robotics, spacecraft rendezvous, satellite missions, space debris mitigation and removal.

Prof. Zhu was enrolled in Shanghai Thousand Talents program in 2014 and Shaanxi One-Hundred-Talent program in 2016. He serves as the Tier 1 York Research Chair in York University from 2017 in recognition of his outstanding status of research in Space Technology. In 2018, he is name the York Research Leader by the office of vice-president research & innovation in York University. He received the Discovery Accelerator Supplements Award of NSERC (given to the top 2% of NSERC applicants in annual competition) in 2018. He serves in the editorial board for many distinguished peer-reviewed journals including the International Journal of Robotics Applications & Technologies, International Journal of Space Science and Engineering, etc. He is a Fellow of Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineering (CSME), the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

目前,朱教授作为PI主持由加拿大航天署资助的2个立方星项目。其中“立方星电动系绳空间离轨演示”计划于2019年初发射。另一立方星将于2020年发射。

讲座内容

Space exploration has been attracted extensive attentions and many countries have devoted a large amount of resources to developing practical technologies for the space exploration. Among them, space robotics and spacecraft rendezvous are two key technologies. This talk will focus on the dynamics and control of space robotics, spacecraft rendezvous, and discuss the difficulties and challenges, as well as the control methods that can be potentially employed. In Particular, model predictive control (MPC), a promising high-performance and cost-effective control method and its application to the space robotics and spacecraft rendezvous, will be discussed in detail.
