讲座人介绍 Ayesha Sohail received the M.Sc. degree in computational mathematics, with distinction and
gold medal from one of the top ranked universities of Asia, the Quaid E Azam University,
and the Ph.D.degree in Computational Mathemtics with biological applications from the
University of Sheffield, UK in 2012. Since 2012, she is an Assistant Professor at the
Department of Applied Mathematics of the COMSATS institute of information technology
Pakistan. She has been a visiting researcher at the University of South Florida during
2016-2017.
 
She has been visiting researcher at the Jeddah University during 2014-2015. Her research
interests include but not limited to discrete event systems, hybrid systems and hybrid
computational techniques, nanoparticle synthesis and their applications, cancer biology and
computational modelling including discrete and continuous modelling, stochastic and
statistical analysis and healthcare systems.
 
She is co-author of 30 papers published in JCR indexed journals, 3 papers ininternational conferences. She was involved in the development of two adaptive COMSOL(interfaced with MATLAB) tools for simulation, analysis and design of biological systems, atmacro, meso and micro scales.
讲座内容 1: Stochastic Processes in Tumour Invasion
Cancer is a condition which is driven by accumulation of mutations. Thisdisorder is characterized as a genetic disease in cells. In recent history, cancer has evolveddramatically, and continuous research is necessary for its quantitative evaluation and predictability.
Mathematical modeling is playing a crucial role in this regard, specifically modelsutilizing the stochastic approach. In this review, we summarize recent modeling approaches based on probabilistic rules, such as the branching process, the Moran process and kineticmodels toexplore the cancer evolution.
2:Cancellous Bone Bio-mechanics and Remodeling During Secondary Osteoporosis
A multiphase computational analysis of dynamic process of trabecular bone remodelling is presented in this article, to demonstrate the structural change in trabeculae as aresult of secondary osteoporosis in men. Remodeling simulations demonstrated morphologicalchanges at the single trabecular level under the axisymmetric compressive loading.The androgen deprivation therapy-triggered physical changes in trabecular structure, aredemonstrated in this article numerically and the results are supported with the availableexperimental findings.
