讲座人介绍 Gan Zheng received the BEng and the MEng from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in 2002 and 2004, respectively, and the PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Hong Kong in 2008. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Signal Processing and Networks Research Group in the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, Loughborough University, UK. He had been on various research and visiting positions with University College London, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and University of Luxembourg, and was with University of Essex as a Lecturer in Communications.  His research interests include wireless edge caching and fog networks, full-duplex radio, wireless power transfer, cooperative and cognitive communications, physical-layer security and multiuser MIMO precoding. Dr. Zheng is a Senior Member of IEEE. He is the Leading Editor of the book titled “Advanced Relay Technologies in Next Generation Wireless Communications” published by the IET in 2016. He is one of the leading Guest Editors of the special issue on “Exploiting Interference towards Energy Efficient and Secure Wireless Communications” in IEEE J. Sel. Topics Signal Process., 2016. He has received 5 international best paper awards, including the prestigious 2015 GLOBECOM Best Paper Award on exploiting constructive interference and the first recipient of the 2013 IEEE Signal Processing Letters Best Paper Award on distributed relay cooperation. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Communications Letters.
讲座内容 The global mobile data traffic continues growing at an unprecedented pace and will reach 49 exabytes monthly by 2021. To meet the high capacity requirement for the future mobile networks, several advanced radio and networking technologies such as massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO), small-cell network densification, millimetre wave, heterogeneous networks, cloud radio access networks (C-RAN) have been proposed.  However, the major challenge remains to be transferring huge amount of mobile data from the core to the network edge and this imposes stringent demands on backhaul links. To address this problem, caching popular contents at small cells has been proposed as one of the most effective solutions, considering the fact that most mobile data are contents such as video, news and maps, that are repeatedly requested and cacheable. The combination of small cells and caching will bring content closer to users, reduce backhaul traffic and transmission delays, thus alleviating many bottleneck problems in wireless content networks.
