讲座人介绍 Tymish Y. Ohulchanskyy obtained his Ph.D. degree (Physics; Optics and Laser Physics) from National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv (Kyiv, Ukraine) in 2001. Then he joined the Institute for Lasers, Photonics and Biophotonics (ILPB) at the University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York, where he advanced to the position of the ILPB Deputy Director. Recently, Dr. Ohulchanskyy accepted position of a Distinguished Professor in the College of Optoelectronic Engineering of Shenzhen University. Dr. Ohulchanskyy's expertise lies in the field of optical properties of organic materials and organic/metal/ceramic/semiconductor or hybrid nanostructures, with broad research interests involving photonics-driven approaches to biomedical and material science applications. He has published more than 100peer-reviewed articles (more than 8000 citations, h-index is 42, according to Google Scholar), has a number of patents, and been a member of MRS, SPIE  and ACS and served on editorial boards of several journals.
讲座内容 The ability of light to penetrate a tissue is a key to diagnostic (e.g., optical bioimaging) and therapeutic (e.g., light induced therapy) applications of biophotonics, which is among the most promising and actively developing multidisciplinary approaches that are expected to make a major impact on health care. This talk will present results of our work on optical and multimodal imaging in conjunction with light induced therapy of cancer.  and demonstrate examples of applications of nanoparticles as optically traceable agents for detection and light enacted (photodynamic or photothermal) treatment of cancer, which allowed us to introduce “see and treat” approach. The talk will conclude with a discussion on challenges in optical bioimaging and light induced therapy using photoactive molecular and nanoparticular agents.
