讲座人介绍     Short Biography:Yuan Luo is a professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. From July 1999 to April 2001, he held a Postdoctoral position in the Institute of Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From May 2001 to April 2003, he had a Postdoctoral position in the Institute for Experimental Mathematics, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, where he revisited many times. Since June 2003, he has been with the Computer Science and Engineering Department, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. He held his corrent position as a Full Professor since 2006.
    His research interests include Coding Theory (especially Hamming Distance, Periodic Sequence), Shannon Channel Capacity and Computer Security (especially Virtual Machine Security).

讲座内容     The transport format combination indicators (TFCIs) are widely applied in CDMA systems. In the realization of TFCI, some input bits are used to combine some basis codewords of a linear block code. When the number of the input bits increases or decreases, some basis codewords will be included or excluded, respectively. In this process, a general consideration is how to generate the basis codewords and keep the minimum distances of the generated subcodes as large as possible. The best solution is called the optimum distance profile of the code, which can be used on generating linear bloke code and subcodes for variable transmission rate.
